Band Tees 101: 5 Ways to Style the Trend

Band Tees 101: 5 Ways to Style the Trend

Band tees are BACK and hopefully (fingers crossed) here to stay. If there’s one fashion staple that will live on in my closet, it will be the band tee (extra oversized, of course). A few of my favorite places to shop for band tees are DAYDREAMER, Urban Outfitters, and thrift stores (those are the real gems) but there are an endless amount of places to score a great (and cheap) band tee.

Band tees can be dressed up and down to give any outfit a bit of an edge. And trust me, band tees are not in short supply, making this trend easy to replicate. If you’re new to this trend or need some inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve rounded up 5 of my favorite ways to style the band tee trend.

  1. Slip Midi Skirt

One way to dress up your band tee is with a slip midi skirt (make it leopard for an elevated look). Pair it with sneakers for a casual day look and then swap your shoes for heels with a leather jacket for cocktails with the girls or date night. Not only does this pairing provide the right amount of comfort and cool, but it’s a combo that can easily work for business meetings, music festivals, or weekend errands.

2. Biker Shorts

One of my favorite (and most comfortable) ways to wear a band tee is with biker shorts. Just add a scrunchie and dad shoes and you’ve got yourself an effortless, cool girl look.

3. Distressed Denim

Pairing your band tee with distressed denim is probably the most obvious option, but this combo never fails. It’s an easy way to amp up the classic jeans and t-shirt look. Still a little too boring for you? Take it up a notch by adding a suede moto jacket. Polish off the look by tucking the tee in, then pair it with boots or your fav sneakers, the decision is yours!

4. Blazer

Another way to dress up your band tee is with a classic blazer. Give your look a touch of business, with a touch of cool girl. Pair it with denim and boots, or cut offs and sneakers for day time, and a midi skirt and heels for night!

5. Slip Dress

Pairing your band tee under a slip dress is the ultimate cute, comfortable and effortless look. The nineties are having yet another moment with this one, and I am HERE FOR IT. Take on a casual vibe by pairing your slip dress and band tee with sneakers, or get ready for the perfect night out with strappy heels.
